About us – Sibylle & Thomas
Welcome to our small, charming campsite in the heart of France!
We are Sibylle and Thomas, originally from the Canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland, and four years ago we discovered a great passion: camping life.
What started as a cozy caravan hobby quickly grew into a real dream – our own campsite in France, where we can offer guests exactly what we love so much ourselves: peace, nature, and that special feeling of simply taking a breath.
How it all began
We searched for almost a year – and in August 2025 we finally found it:
Campsite Le Cormier in idyllic Obterre, in the heart of Centre-Val de Loire.
A former farmstead, nestled in around 4 hectares of rural nature, peacefully located yet easily accessible. The first time we walked across the grounds, we knew immediately: This is it.
What drives us
One thing is especially important to us: that you truly feel welcome with us – not like guests at an anonymous establishment, but like friends coming to visit.
With great passion and attention to detail, we are developing Le Cormier step by step – always with the goal of preserving the original charm and natural character of the place.

What awaits you
Le Cormier is the perfect starting point to explore the region: To the north await the famous Loire châteaux, to the south the enchanting Brenne Nature Park – also known as the land of 1,000 lakes. And in between? Silence, green expanses, and plenty of space to relax.
We offer 12 spacious pitches, 3 cozy studios, and one gîte – and we're happy to keep the site open for you (normally year-round).

Sibylle & Thomas
Our background
Sibylle: I was born in 1967 and grew up in 8134 Adliswil/Zurich and am the mother of two adult sons. Before we emigrated, I worked for 10 years at a waste disposal company in Liesberg/Basel-Landschaft as a secretary and accountant. My hobbies are e-biking, gardening, and crafts. I love interacting with people and animals and enjoy being outdoors in nature.
Thomas: I was born in 1964 in Laufen/Basel-Landschaft and grew up in Wahlen/Basel-Landschaft. I have 2 adult children, a daughter and a son. My first profession was as a painter. Before we emigrated, I worked for 27 years as a police officer with the Basel-Landschaft Police and then for another 8 years for 2 municipalities in Basel-Landschaft as a municipal police officer. My hobbies are e-biking, collecting autographs, and crafts.
Featured on Swiss television: Our journey on "Auf und davon"
Perhaps we look familiar? For two years, the team from Swiss Television SRF has been following our great adventure with their cameras. In the popular documentary series "Auf und davon 2026", viewers were able to witness how we packed up our lives in Switzerland to start fresh in the beautiful Centre-Val de Loire.
The six episodes that aired in January 2026 show our journey unfiltered – with all the exciting moments, the big emotions, and of course the typical ups and downs that come with emigrating. For us, being in front of the camera was completely new territory, but it was an incredibly exciting experience to be able to share our story with so many people.
What's next?
The journey isn't over yet: In January 2027, the continuation "Auf und davon: Ein Jahr danach" follows, in which we show how we've settled into Obterre and what's been happening at the campsite.
